Civic Engagement
Through its national civic engagement program, NULYP increases voter education, voter registration, and voter participation among young professionals across the country. Chapters also bring debates to life on current issues relevant to not only the Black experience, but the American experience in this country.
Locally, the Young Professionals hosted a Political Workshop series titled, Politics 101. The series spanned six months and featured nonpartisan workshops on legislative lobbying, campaign finance, life as a public servant and more. The series featured Las Vegas City Councilman Ricki Barlow, Assemblyman Morse Arberry Jr., Assemblywoman Francis Allen, Political Analyst Jon Ralston, Sentinel-Voice Publisher Ramon Savoy, District Court Judge Tim Williams, North Las Vegas City Manager Greg Rose, University Regent Cedric Crear Jr. and Boyd Law School Dean John White among others.
