YP Chapter Elects New Officers

The Las Vegas Clark County Urban League Young Professionals recently elected its new slate of officers for the 2009 and 2010 calendar years.

Parliamentarian – Malcolm White

Secretary II – Courtney Phipps

Secretary I – Chris Holliday

Treasurer – Leaha Crawford

Vice President – Alex Dixon

President – Tanya Flanagan

Please join me in extending a heartfelt congratulations to each of these individuals!

This year has been one of  tremendous transition for the chapter and the affiliate.  Nationally, we have witnessed amazing change with the election of Barack Obama and marveled at the intensity of an election campaign that was unlike any other in American history.

At the end of the year, we reflect, thinking about what we have accomplished, what we hope to accomplish and, in that, setting goals for a new year. I send words of encouragement to say that I hope each of us is successful in our endeavors as we work separately and collectively to achieve rewards.  For those who are new to the chapter, I pray that you embrace the mission that we have of working to help others as we help ourselves and in doing that, I hope you build new friendships and enjoy a sense of extended family. To those who have been supporting the Movement for sometime, I pray you will continue to respond to the calling to be a part of the charge as chage agents!  Together we make a difference. We are a sum of all our parts – of all of our abilities, talents, personalities, experiences and hearts.

I look forward to 2009 as a YP and I hope that you will continue with me in the commitment to make this one of the most outstanding and viable organizations in the city. Let’s set our goals high in 2009, grow our chapter and help this community as we encourage and help ourselves to improve our health, careers, families and achieve our goals.
