Tanya Flanagan, Western Region Vice President
Tanya Flanagan is currently the Web Content Administrator for Clark County. Prior to joining the County in 2002, Tanya spent five years as a reporter with the Review-Journal newspaper covering crime, politics and urban affairs; and two years with MGM MIRAGE as a manager of Public Relations overseeing local, national and international media interests. She began her tenure with the County as chief of staff to former Clark County Commissioner Yvonne Gates. In 2007, Tanya became the public communications officer for Clark County’s Social Service Department. Tanya has a bachelor’s in Journalism and Political Science from the University of Arizona and in 2006 earned an Executive MBA from UNLV. Tanya is the founding president of the Las Vegas-Clark County Urban League Young Professionals. She was sworn into a second two-year term on January 20, 2009. Tanya also serves on the After-School All-Stars Board of Directors, the Urban League’s Affiliate Council and supports the Three Square Food Bank Agency Capacity Building Strategy Team. Tanya has been nominated for In Business Las Vegas’ Top 40 Under 40; and in October 2008 was profiled as a special feature in the inaugural publication of Who’s Who In Black Las Vegas.
Alex Dixon, Chapter President
Alex Dixon is a Director of Planning and Analysis for Harrah’s Entertainment, the world’s largest gaming-entertainment operator. In this position, he manages the financial forecasting and capital allocation processes for three hotel and casino properties within the Las Vegas and Laughlin markets. Prior to joining Harrah’s, Alex worked as an investment banker focusing on mergers and acquisitions with Goldman Sachs and Silver Pacific Advisors in cities including: New York, London (UK) and Los Angeles. Alex’s significant transaction experience includes the $638mm IPO of Jackson Hewitt and Disney’s $7.5bn acquisition of Pixar. Locally, Alex serves on the board of Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas and the finance committee of State Senator Steven Horsford. In 2003, Alex was awarded a BBA in finance from Howard University in Washington D.C. A native of Las Vegas, Alex is married to Yindra Dixon and they are the proud parents of Alex Jr. and twins Parker and Peyton.
Naomi Lewis, Chapter Vice President
Naomi LewisNaomi joined Newsome Marketing Enterprises after graduating from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Media Studies, with an emphasis in Public Relations.While in college, Naomi interned for the Las Vegas Valley Water District in their Public Information department.She also volunteers her time coaching and mentoring for the Las Vegas Heat Youth Track Club. As Public Relations Coordinator, Naomi will handle media and public relations for client accounts and maintain web content for NME and clients. Naomi enjoys exercising, reading and writing, meeting new people and spending time with her family.
